Creative Reuse Center Coordinator - Ann Arbor, MI

Supervisory Duties: Supervises the daily activities of the Creative Reuse Center and the retail team.
SCRAP is searching for an energetic and outgoing individual to fill the role of Creative Reuse Center Coordinator. Providing excellent customer service in a welcoming environment and
receiving, processing and managing high quality and safe creative reuse materials for retail. SCRAP’s mission is to inspire creative reuse and environmentally sustainable behavior by
providing educational programs and affordable materials to the community. To fulfill our mission, SCRAP operates a donation-based creative reuse store and education programming.
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the overall retail operations and the supply of creative reuse materials to the customer base, while providing excellent customer service in a welcoming environment. This position will serve as the point person for store staff and set priorities based on the needs of the store. The Reuse Coordinator will work closely with the Donations Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, Education Coordinator and/or Site Director to ensure that all organizational needs are reached. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Retail Operations
• Maintains a customer-focused perspective with the goals of increasing store sales and use of SCRAP programs and service offerings and broadening customer base
• Establishes, creates, and maintains store design, display and layout
• Ensures availability of point–of-purchase displays and collateral materials
• Establishes, reviews, and updates reused inventory pricing, sales, and availability
• Projects sales and assists in the budgeting process
• Partners with the Volunteer on training and supervision of store and materials volunteers
• Partners with the Education to help the rest of the SCRAP team stay aware of scheduled education events and materials needs
• Works closely with the Donations to maintain and communicate a current list of new and accepted items needed in the store
• Supports Online Store staff with material flow, pricing, and filling orders when needed
• Stays current on alternative sales channels for inventory (i.e. online store)
• Ensures consistency of promotions and marketing at the register and throughout store (i.e. weekly sales, merchandising, etc.)
• Performs (or supervises the performance of) a variety of retail-related duties including receipt and handling of materials, maintaining store inventory and back stock, assisting
customers, operating the cash register, balancing cash drawer, overseeing opening/closing cash register procedures, making bank deposits, recording statistics, and answering store
phone/voicemail inquiries
Other Duties
• Special projects and other duties as needed and assigned by Site Director
Staff Leadership
• Assists in selection of the Reuse Supply staff with Director
• Trains and supervises personnel in Reuse Supply retail operations
• Acts as the point person for specialists working in the Creative Reuse Center when there is no Site Director available
• Works with the Leadership Team to schedule staff to meet Reuse Supply needs
• Promptly informs the Site Executive Director of potential personnel and/or customer concerns and issues
• Maintains a positive and productive culture in the store and materials recovery area
• Serves as a peer leader among the team and sets expectations and priorities for staff
• Offers creative advice as requested
• Meets regularly with other Coordinators, Managers, and Director to communicate, coordinate, and support other departments
Metrics and Reporting
• Maintains Records and Metrics designated by Site Director (ie. weekly/monthly reports, incident reports, etc.)
• Collaborates with Site Director in preparing monthly report of store.
Customer Service
• Communicates effectively to all stakeholders
• Ensures customers and donors are greeted in a professional, warm and helpful manner
• Positively represents SCRAP at all times with all stakeholders
• Reflects and communicates the values of our nonprofit organization related to communications with a variety of stakeholders (customers, financial donors, National Board members, SCRAP
staff, volunteers, media, and influential members of the community)
Materials Acquisition
• Supports donations programming that may include Fill Minds Not Landfills to determine/prioritize most desirable materials
• Works with the Leadership Team to determine and communicate policies about materials acquisition with volunteers, customers, and public donors
• Consistently solicits information from customers about materials they seek, desire, have access to, and maintains a system of communication and organization to effectively use this
information
• Works closely with Donations to support high material flow from donations onto the sales floor (including supporting retail staff materials processing at the register)
Information and Referral
• Stays current with the environmental services community and sources of information and referral for callers and customers
• Stays current with developments in recycling and reuse, including legislation and availability of recyclable materials markets
Collaboration
• Serves as a member of the Site Leadership Team
• Contributes expertise in reuse, materials, creativity, and flow to SCRAP Reuse Supply operations
• Is open to participating in community events (on- and off-site) through education or donations departments
Working Conditions
• A high frequency of unassisted heavy moving of items (up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis per shift)
• Position oneself to bend, stoop and/or climb
• Stay in a stationary position (either standing, working, or sitting) for extended periods of times
• Working in hot and cold climates

This position is well-trained in both the reuse supply/retail and recovery/donations duties and will be scheduled in both capacities in any given week dependent upon the needs of the organization. This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service in a welcoming environment and receiving, processing, and managing high quality and safe creative reuse materials for retail. This role will provide fast paced sorting and organization and/or physical support to the donations department and will be expected to engage in frequent moving of heavy items over the course of a shift. The Site Executive Director or designee will determine the scheduling needs for maximum efficiency.
