Education Coordinator - Ann Arbor Michigan
32 hours/week - 60-80% of the year
Up to 40 hours/week - during peak Education Programming and as needed
Starting at $17.00 hour
Hourly/Non-Exempt

Monthly craft allowance of $25 that expires at the end of each month.

SCRAP is searching for an energetic and outgoing individual to fill the role of Education Coordinator. This position is responsible for scheduling and leading SCRAP Education Programs, including field trips, teaching reuse in classrooms, workshops, kids’ camps, and community outreach.
SCRAP’s mission is to inspire creative reuse and environmentally sustainable behavior by providing educational programs and affordable materials to the community. To fulfill our mission, SCRAP operates a donation-based creative reuse store and education programming.
SCRAP boasts a world-class creative reuse education program for students of all ages and experience levels. By combining environmental education, art and
sustainable activities, students have a fully engaging and informative experience. Students, teachers, families, and community members learn about saving reusable items that would otherwise
wind up in the trash or recycling bin.
JOB SUMMARY
The focus of this position is the SCRAP Education Program, assists with Event Coordination and Marketing/Outreach, and will be responsible for the scheduling, promoting, and delivering of SCRAP Education Programming. Hours will vary from weekdays to weekends based on the programming schedule and classes with flexibility. Reuse/Donations Specialist knowledge required to maintain up-to-date knowledge of current materials for programming and assist in the creative reuse center if needed, but education programming will be the priority of this position. The Education Coordinator will be responsible for managing all aspects related to SCRAP Education, including managing programming, outreach, development, staff and volunteer management related to educational programming, and reporting to the Site Director and National Education Director.

Work as part of a team with other staff, volunteers, and programs to fulfill SCRAP’s mission; communicate effectively and focus on good stakeholder relations; greet stakeholders professionally, warmly and helpfully; stay current with the environmental services community and sources of information and referrals for callers and customers; stay current with developments in reuse and recycling, including legislation and availability of recyclable materials markets; when necessary, say “no” tactfully and suggest other community resources to meet appropriate needs; and is an ambassador for SCRAP in the community.
